The Apple Watch is considered the best-selling watch in the world. In addition to a redesign, the Apple Watch Series 4 boasted the ECG function.
Sales of the Apple Watch Series 4 start tomorrow. The first criticism of the ECG function has already arrived. It has now been announced that Apple received FDA approval one day before the presentation.
If this had not been the case, the iGroup would not have been allowed to advertise the function. The Apple Watch Series 4 and its new feature are the world's first smartwatch with an ECG function for end users. While many are eagerly awaiting this, voices are now being raised that do not believe in it. For example, Apple's study on the early detection of atrial fibrillation is being questioned by a cardiologist at the University of Michigan. Other cardiologists around the world also do not believe in the accuracy of the computer watch.
What is an ECG?
The electrocardiogram (ECG) is the recording of the sum of the electrical activities of all heart muscle fibers using an electrocardiograph.
In order to measure the current flow, the user must hold their finger to the digital crown for 30 seconds. A cardiogram is then created. In order to be able to offer such a feature, approval from the health authorities in the respective country is required. Apple has already received this in the USA. However, the ECG function will not be active at market launch. Why this is the case remains unclear. However, the feature is expected to be activated in the USA by the end of the year.
