During the “Time Flies” keynote, Apple announced a feature called “Family Setup”) which will be introduced in watchOS 7.
watchOS 7 introduces several new features, including Family Setup. Compatible with Apple Watch Series 4 and later—including the brand new Apple Watch SE, Family Setup requires an active Apple Watch iPhone and a data plan for the watch. The primary user can then use the Watch app on their iPhone to set up an Apple Watch for another family member, manage access to various features and capabilities, and get activity reports.
"Send money safely"
An interesting feature of the family setup is the “Apple Cash Family” feature, which allows a parent to securely load money onto their child’s Apple Watch and allows the child to use Apple Pay. explained Apple:
With the new Apple Cash Family, parents can securely send money to their children using Apple Pay for their child's watch. Parents can choose to receive notifications when their children pay and see their child's purchases directly in the Wallet on their own iPhone.
The feature helps parents provide their children with a limited amount of money to spend at their discretion without having to worry about cash that can easily be lost or stolen.
Apple Watch: Parents have the upper hand
The Apple Cash Family feature can be enabled for up to five family members, and supervision can be shared with another adult in Family Sharing. Parents can not only view activity and receive notifications about person-to-person purchases and payments, but can also restrict access to Apple Cash balances if needed—even the number of people money can be sent to is configurable. Family Setup also offers other helpful tools for parents and children, with school-time and downtime features that can be used to control when and what children can do with their Apple Watch. There are also child-friendly activity rings and more. (Image: Apple)
