A number of Apple TV owners have complained over the past few months about various issues when using external speakers with the Apple TV and trying to listen to Dolby Atmos audio.
In a thread in Apple's support forums, which was opened in September 2021 and now has over 25 pages of complaints, reports that users are having problems with their Apple TV and Dolby Atmos. According to those affected, when listening to Dolby Atmos content, the sound is sometimes either completely cut off and silent, is no longer in sync with the videos on the screen, or jerks and stutters.
Apple TV Dolby Atmos audio problems: tvOS 15.5 could help
Some users are experiencing the issue in all Apple TV apps, but the majority of complaints are focused on the Netflix app. Some users have found that changing the audio settings and disabling Dolby Atmos solves the problem completely.
