The Microsoft Xbox is certainly one of the most popular gaming consoles in the world. With the Xbox Series S, launched in 2020, customers have an even more affordable way to play console games. But now Microsoft is looking to bring the Xbox experience to even more people as the company is working on a new streaming device to compete with the Apple TV.
As originally reported by Windows Central reported and then confirmed by Microsoft itself, the company is developing a new Xbox device codenamed "Keystone". However, this is not a full-fledged gaming console but a device that focuses entirely on streaming (including game streaming). Details about this device are currently unclear. However, a Microsoft spokesperson revealed that the company's gaming division wants to make the Xbox experience even more accessible through a new "affordable hardware". According to the spokesperson, "Keystone" can be connected to any TV or monitor, allowing users to play games via streaming without a console. It is not yet known when exactly the new Xbox device will be available on the market. However, the product has been in development for several years and is expected to be officially unveiled in the next few months.
Console-level games without an Xbox console
Thanks to Xbox Cloud Gaming, anyone with a good internet connection can play Xbox games on any device, including iPhone and iPad. Instead of running the titles locally, Microsoft runs the games on its servers and streams them online to the user's device, so no powerful hardware is required. The best thing about Xbox Cloud Gaming is that it offers real console games, including popular titles such as Battlefield, Cities Skyline, DiRT, Fallout, Forza, Fortnite, Halo, Need for Speed, The Sims and Flight Simulator. In addition to gaming, media streaming apps will also be offered, so it will also function as a regular set-top box for films, series and music. So the whole thing should remain pretty exciting.
