In recent months, many Apple TV users have been struggling with connection issues with the Siri Remote. Despite increasing complaints, Apple has still not resolved these issues - not even with the latest updates tvOS 16.3 and tvOS 16.3.1.
Apple released a new version of the Apple TV 4K last fall with a new A15 Bionic chip, support for HDR 10+, and a new Siri Remote with USB-C for charging. Aside from the switch to USB-C, the Siri Remote included with the 2022 version of the Apple TV 4K is identical to the previous generation. There are numerous threads on Reddit and on the support website from Apple complaining about connection problems between the Apple TV and the Siri Remote. The problems seem to occur exclusively with the Siri Remote with USB-C connection, which Apple also sells as a standalone accessory for users of previous generation Apple TV models. Users report that the Siri Remote regularly disconnects from their Apple TV, with no pattern or explanation.
Apple TV 4K & Siri Remote: No solution in sight or confirmation from Apple
These users report that the Siri Remote disconnects while the Apple TV is playing something, usually a few minutes after the remote is used to start playback. The latest Apple TV 4K and USB-C Siri Remote were released in November. Since then, Apple has released several updates to tvOS 16, including tvOS 16.1.1, tvOS 16.2, tvOS 16.3, and tvOS 16.3. However, none of these updates have successfully resolved the issues. Twitter user @aaronp613 points also points out that the Siri USB remote itself has not received a firmware update since its launch in November. The lack of an official solution, let alone Apple's acknowledgement of the problem, is causing even more frustration among Apple TV users.
