Apple today released a new firmware update for the second generation of AirPods Pro. It's the second update the earbuds have received since their launch in the fall.
The existing firmware 5A377 has been updated to version 5B58. There is no information about what features are included in the updated firmware. Apple has not provided any information about what is included in the updated firmware updates for the AirPods, so we don't know what improvements or bug fixes the new firmware brings. There is no standard way to update the AirPods software, but the firmware is usually installed over-the-air while the AirPods are connected to an iOS device.
AirPods Pro 2 receive a new update
If you put the AirPods in the case, connect them to a power source, and then pair them with an iPhone or iPad, the update should take a short time. You can check the firmware on your AirPods or AirPods Pro by following these steps:
- Connect your AirPods or AirPods Pro to your iOS device.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap General.
- Navigate to Info.
- Tap AirPods.
- Look at the number next to “Firmware Version”.
If there are any significant changes in the firmware update, we will of course report on them. However, it can be assumed that Apple has made performance improvements and bug fixes.
