iOS 16 was released to all users on Monday. However, as reported this week, the iPhone 14 models will ship with a version of iOS 16.0 that is earlier than the official build (20A362). Now Apple has rolled out iOS 16.0.1 exclusively for the new iPhone 14 models.
Until now, iPhone 14 owners received the same iOS 16.0 build that was released as an update earlier this week as soon as they set up the device for the first time - this was for select testers. But now the new models are being asked to switch directly to iOS 16.0.1 (build number 20A371).
What changes with iOS 16.0.1?
According to the iOS 16.0.1 update description, the update fixes bugs that could affect the activation and migration of the new iPhones. It also fixes issues related to enterprise apps and the Photos app. The update description is as follows:
This update is recommended for all users and provides important bug fixes for your iPhone, including the following:
- Fixes an activation and migration issue during setup on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro.
- Photos may appear soft when zoomed in landscape mode on the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
- Authentication of enterprise single sign-on apps may fail.
It is worth noting that during the initial setup, iOS can detect any system updates and prompt users to install them. Therefore, users can install iOS 16.0.1 to avoid major problems even before setting up the new iPhone. (Image: Apple)
