Apple today released iOS 15.7.1 and iPadOS 15.7.1, operating system updates primarily intended for older iPhones and iPads that cannot run iOS 16 and iPadOS 16. However, Apple is also addressing those users who consciously do not want to switch to iOS 16 and/or iPadOS 16.
The iOS 15.7.1 and iPadOS 15.7.1 updates can be downloaded over-the-air on eligible iPhones and iPads by opening the Settings app, then navigating to General and Software Update. The release of iOS 15.7.1 has been delayed because it was discovered during the beta testing phase that the update was breaking Face ID for some users.
iOS 15.7.1 & iPadOS 15.7.1 increase security
Apple probably fixed the Face ID problem before releasing the new software. According to the update description, iOS 15.7.1 contains important security fixes and is recommended for all users. iOS 15.7.1 probably fixes the same security issues that were also fixed in iOS 16.1. The update for iOS 16.1 contained a fix for a security vulnerability that Apple said was being actively exploited. The update is therefore strongly recommended. (Photo by blackboard / Bigstockphoto)
