Yesterday evening, Apple released the third beta of iOS 14.2, iPadOS 14.2, tvOS 14.2 and watchOS 7.1 for registered developers. The company also released the Golden Master version of iOS 14.1 & iPadOS 14.1.
Apple caused a brief moment of confusion yesterday evening when it released iOS 14.1 to all users. The update was quickly withdrawn shortly after release. The Golden Master version has now been released for registered developers. Next week appear the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro – both devices run iOS 14.1. For this reason, Apple will roll out the update to all users next week. This means that iOS 14.2 probably won't be released until November.
iOS 14.1 GM is available via IPSW files
With iOS 14.1, users will also get support for the new HomePod mini and find other improvements in the Home app. Although Apple itself has not provided any information about iOS 14.1, it is expected that the update will be released to all users in the middle of next week. It is currently suspected that the iPad Air 4 will also be released next week. Since Apple is also offering the beta of iOS 14.2 for developers, iOS 14.1 GM is only available via IPSW files on the Apple developer portal. The US blog 9to5mac has some screenshots from the Home app under iOS 14.1 providedThis is what the new features look like.
