Apple has now announced that Slate’s narrative podcast series “Slow Burn” has won the first-ever Apple Podcasts Award for Show of the Year.
According to Apple, the podcast won the award for its final season, “Roe v. Wade,” in which Slate editor Susan Matthews examines the events leading up to the Supreme Court’s landmark 1973 decision. The four-part miniseries was released in June and is being recognized for “outstanding quality, innovation and impact.”

Made from 100% recycled aluminum and featuring the Apple Podcasts app icon on the front and the award winner on the back, the new award looks very similar to the App Store Award that has been given out since 2020.

Apple says the award represents the company's "decades-long commitment to helping creators share their voices with the world and helping listeners discover the best podcasts."

Oliver Schusser, Apple’s Vice President for Apple Music and Beats, commented on how follows:
Apple Podcasts is where users come to discover new shows, enjoy their favorites, unlock premium listening experiences, and support the creators who make it possible. Podcasts play an important role in our lives — helping us stay informed, entertained, and inspired — and we're thrilled to honor the Slate team with this award.
