The topic of savings banks and Apple Pay has been with us for about a year now. But it seems that we are finally getting closer to our goal.
On Friday Sparkasse has once again confirmed its support for Apple Pay via Twitter. According to this, all Sparkasse customers with a Visa or Mastercard will be able to use Apple's payment service this year, while the Girocard will not be compatible with Apple Pay until 2020. If you still don't want to believe it - and understandably so - you can take a look at Apple's official list of all partner banks As of today, Sparkasse is also listed among the official Apple Pay participants. To be precise, it was assigned to the "In 2019" category. Accordingly, the introduction of Apple Pay at Sparkasse is imminent - however, a specific start date is still not known. In addition to Sparkasse, Norisbank, Openbank and Sodexo are also expected to introduce Apple Pay in 2019. Here, too, no specific start dates are known.
So far, there is no indication when Apple Pay will actually be available for Sparkasse customers - some are assuming it will be introduced on December 10th, while others are predicting the end of November. It also remains unknown whether all Sparkasse banks nationwide will launch at the same time. (Photo by bernardojbp / Bigstockphoto)
