Only recently, a patent was published that describes a foldable iPhone. Now there is a new discovery on this topic - Apple seems to have great interest in a folding iPhone.
It is an open secret that Apple is always researching new technologies. New patents are constantly being published that describe new technologies and their possible areas of application. One of the most current topics at the moment is foldable smartphones. Manufacturers such as Samsung and Huawei have already presented the first devices. Now the question arises: will Apple also deliver a foldable iPhone? The wishes of the fans vary widely. Many of the fans hope that Apple will not jump on this bandwagon, while a few others would welcome a kind of iPhone Pro. But the fact is that Apple is working on such a device. Only recently a patent was published with drawings that for the first time gave a concrete insight into the world of a foldable iPhones Now another entry has been found.
Electronic Devices with Flexible Displays
According to the report, the US Patent and Trademark Office has granted Apple a patent application, according to which a technology is intended to protect the flexible display from cold damage. The patent describes a particular problem with OLED displays. They can become brittle in the cold - the folding mechanism would then damage the screen. Heat could help prevent exactly that when the display bends. In its patent, Apple describes the installation of special sensors that are responsible for temperature regulation - several heating methods would be possible here. The alternative would be a folding lock - if the device is in a very cold environment, a magnetic latch would be activated that blocks the folding mechanism. The idea sounds exciting, of course, but whether Apple will actually bring a foldable iPhone with such technology onto the market remains to be seen. It is not uncommon for many such ideas to never make it into finished products. (Image: iStock by Getty Images)
