It was already announced. Now the time has finally come. After countless rumors and leaks, Apple has now officially introduced a new, affordable iPhone - the iPhone SE 2020. Yes, just iPhone SE.
While details about the design and features have been “known” for several months, the name was a well-kept secret until recently – as always. Due to its shape and design, many believed that Apple would launch the new iPhone SE 2020 as the iPhone 9. In the press release Apple writes:
Apple today announced the second generation iPhone SE, a powerful new iPhone with a 4.7-inch Retina HD display paired with Touch ID for industry-leading security. The new iPhone SE is powered by Apple-designed A13 Bionic, the fastest chip in a smartphone, designed to handle the most demanding tasks. iPhone SE also features the best single-camera system ever in an iPhone, unlocking the benefits of computational photography, including Portrait mode, and is designed to withstand the elements with dust and water resistance.
Better pictures, better videos
As expected, the new iPhone SE has the A13 chip at its heart. It is similar to the iPhone 8 and is available in black, white and Product(RED). The device can be purchased with 64, 128 and 256 GB. Regarding the camera, Apple explains:
iPhone SE features the best single camera system ever in an iPhone, with a 12-megapixel camera with f/1.8 wide aperture, and leverages A13 Bionic's image signal processor and Neural Engine to unlock even more benefits of computational photography, including Portrait mode, all six Portrait Lighting effects, and Depth Control. Using machine learning and monocular depth estimation, iPhone SE also captures stunning portraits with the front camera. Videos are even more impressive with stereo audio recording and cinematic video stabilization on the front and rear cameras. The rear camera supports high-quality 4K video recording at up to 60 frames per second, and iPhone SE's extended dynamic range captures more detail at up to 30 frames per second. Customers can also take advantage of QuickTake Video on the front and rear cameras, allowing video recording without switching from Photo mode.
Prices and availability
The price of the iPhone SE 2020 starts at 479 euros - the maximum configuration costs around 649 euros. Delivery of the iPhone 8 successor will start on April 24th this year. Interested parties can pre-order the second generation iPhone SE from April 17th at 2 p.m. in Apple's online shop. (Image: Apple)
