Apple Music's popular Spatial Audio feature will be available in cars for the first time. Mercedes-Benz has now announced that Apple Music with Spatial Audio is available in a range of vehicles starting today.
In a press release, Mercedes-Benz and Apple announced that Apple Music with Spatial Audio is now integrated directly into the MBUX infotainment system, first in the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, EQS and EQS SUV, and EQE, EQE SUV and S-Class. The feature is available for these vehicles when equipped with the Burmester 3D or 4D sound system with 31 speakers. It offers drivers “studio-quality sound that is better than in any concert hall” and “a completely immersive listening experience with unparalleled, multi-dimensional sound and clarity.” Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats, praised the new partnership in a statement:
Apple Music with Spatial Audio is available in Car for the first time
That's why we're thrilled to be working with Mercedes to bring Spatial Audio on Apple Music natively in the car for the first time. Spatial Audio is revolutionizing the way artists create music and fans listen to music, and it's an experience that can't be put into words; you have to hear it to appreciate it. Together with Mercedes, we now have even more opportunities to deliver fully immersive music to our subscribers around the world.
This is the first time that Apple Music's spatial audio feature has been extended to in-car infotainment systems. Apple announced the feature last year along with support for lossless streaming.
