Some HomePod users are reporting problems accessing Apple Music. These are said to be related to the latest software update 14.5. In many cases, Siri is no longer able to play songs in Apple Music.
Apple updated the HomePod to 14.5 last week. But interestingly, reports are increasing (via 9to5mac) around problems only recently. Could these really be traced back to the latest software update? Apple has been struggling with problems in iCloud for a few days now. iTunes and Apple Music, as well as various other services, have been affected several times.
Apple Music and HomePod: AirPlay as an emergency solution
At the moment, there is no answer to what users can do if they cannot use Apple Music on the HomePod. Some users were able to solve the problem by resetting their HomePod to factory settings - others unfortunately were not. In addition, not every HomePod owner seems to be affected. I, for example, have not noticed any problems so far. If you have the problem and cannot solve it, you should resort to AirPlay. This is not as convenient as using "Hey Siri" but at least allows you to listen to music. If there is any news on this, we will update the article or publish a new one depending on the scope.
