After Apple unveiled the best apps of 2019, the company unveiled the brand new Apple Music Awards. The ceremony is set to take place tomorrow.
The brand new Apple Music Award is a trophy made by Apple itself. The company describes the award as follows:
Apple has designed a series of awards to recognize the exceptional craftsmanship of music production. Each award consists of an Apple-designed silicon wafer suspended between a polished pane of glass and a machined and anodized aluminum casing. The award is based on a perfect 12-inch wafer of silicon with nanometer-scale imperfections. Copper layers are deposited and arranged using ultraviolet lithography to create connections between billions of transistors. The result of this process, which takes several months before the wafer is cut into hundreds of individual chips, is stunning and distinctive. This symbolic gesture puts the same processors that power all the devices used to listen to music around the world at the center of the Apple Music Awards.

But who gets this remarkable award? The Apple Music Awards recognize musical achievements in five different categories. Winners are chosen through a process that reflects the service's editorial perspective combined with what customers around the world love most. The categories include:
- Artist of the Year
- Album of the Year
- Song of the Year
- Songwriter of the Year
- Breakthrough Artist of the Year
With the launch of the Apple Music Awards, for the first time, we celebrate the best and boldest musicians of 2019 and the tremendous impact they had on global culture this year.

According to Apple, the young artist Billie Eilish won three of the five categories. The exclusive awards ceremony will take place on December 4th at 6:30 pm PST in the Steve Jobs Theater - there will also be a live stream.
