The Apple Maps app was updated this week with the new COVID-19 guidelines for airports. The application provides iPhone, iPad and Mac users with a quick overview of COVID-19 travel requirements and easy access to the full list of guidelines for each airport.
Airport data is provided by Airports Council International, with information displayed at the top of each airport map. Airports Council International collects COVID-19 information directly from individual airports. explained ACI World Director General Luis Felipe de Oliveira:
Apple Maps: Airports can decide for themselves whether to participate
The recovery of air travel will depend on passengers' confidence in the industry's focus on their health and wellbeing. Having this information displayed in Apple Maps will help make this important data much more widely available to passengers. This will help passengers plan their journeys and give them reassurance that their health and safety remains a priority for the industry as we all work towards a sustainable return to operations and global connectivity. Collaboration remains key to a globally coordinated recovery and we are grateful to our members for the partnership we have formed to provide this important tool that will help restore passenger confidence in air travel.

At the moment, the app appears to support a selection of airports in the US and other countries. Any airport that wants to participate can sign up through the ACI Health Measures Portal. (Screenshot: Apfelpatient)
