Apple has now officially launched a new service program for the AirPods Pro. According to the company, some of the popular earbuds are affected by a manufacturing problem that can cause "sound issues."
In the past, some users have complained about sound problems with the Pro version of the popular earbuds complained. Static noises or a kind of crackling were heard. There are also cases where active noise cancellation does not work as expected. The new support document states:
Apple has determined that a small percentage of AirPods Pro may experience sound issues. Affected units were manufactured before October 2020.

Regarding the symptoms, the Cupertino-based company lists the following examples:
- Crackling or static sounds that increase in noisy environments, during exercise, or when talking on the phone
- Active noise cancellation does not work as expected, for example loss of bass sound or amplification of background noise, e.g. street or aircraft noise

So if you have the problems mentioned above, you can go to Apple or an authorized service provider. But be careful, the white plugs will of course be examined by a technician for said malfunctions, as Apple notes. This is what it says about the service procedure:
Select one of the AirPods Pro service options below. Prior to service, AirPods Pro will be inspected to ensure they qualify for this program. AirPods Pro (left, right, or both) with a proven issue will be replaced. The AirPods Pro charging case is not affected and will not be replaced.
