In general, Apple's keynote was a bit lackluster. This is not only due to the numerous leaks, but also to the fact that products such as AirPods 2 and AirPower were not mentioned.
Many people were hoping for a sign of life from AirPower. A launch date was even expected. Apple has clearly disappointed here. The new AirPods case, which promises wireless charging, is still missing. A video shows a jogger activating the "Hey Siri" function via the AirPods. Are these the first generation plugs, refreshed with an update, or were they already the AirPods 2? This question remains open for the time being.
Disappeared without a trace
Last year, Apple announced its own Qi charging mat. AirPower allows you to charge your iPhone, Apple Watch, and the AirPods charging case at the same time. During charging, the user is free to place the device in any position; there is no need to stick to a specific zone.
Apple made this flexibility possible by installing a total of 22 coils. These were placed next to each other like tiles and can therefore be controlled more precisely. Apple wanted to provide the charging case for the AirPods later. There is no sign of that either.
Both products are attracting a lot of interest, but there has been no sign of life so far. Now there is speculation as to whether AirPower and the AirPods 2, along with the new charging case, will be presented in October. Since new iPad Pros with Face ID and MacBooks are still expected, it is conceivable that Apple has planned another event next month. A look into the past underlines the theory.
iPhone SE
Is the iPhone SE history? There doesn't seem to be a successor in sight - Apple has removed it from its range as of today. Hopes of an iPhone SE 2 are slowly fading. Anyone who wants a small iPhone and orders from Apple will have to resort to an iPhone 7 or iPhone 8. Both devices are equipped with a 4.7" display. For many, that's already too big. Whether Cupertino has planned something along these lines is currently up in the air.
