Every year again. September belongs to Apple - new iPhones and Apple Watch models are guaranteed. But what exactly could the iGroup deliver?
This year's iPhone show will take place on September 12th in the Steve Jobs Theater. The motto of the keynote: Gather round! Everyone can watch the spectacle via livestream from 7 p.m.
Three iPhones
According to recent leaks and rumors, the iPhone X will have two direct successors. The iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max. The former will be available with 5.8" and the other with 6.5". Both will have a OLED display. The third device will have a 6.1" LCD. All three models will, as expected, have Face ID. Compared to the X models, the LCD iPhone will probably be the product for the mass market, as it will be significantly cheaper. All three iPhones will have an A12 chip. One of the iPhones could have multi-SIM - but this function will not be usable internationally. The device is said to have a normal SIM slot and another eSIM. The latter will only be active in certain markets. The 6.1" LCD model will be available from 799 euros. The 5.8" iPhone Xs will start at 909 euros. Apple's flagship will be available from 1,149 euros and with maximum equipment for 1,319 euros - it is suspected that Apple could install 512 GB of flash memory for the first time.
Apple Watch Series 4
The models are expected to hit the market with 1.57" and 1.78". This small increase in size is to be made possible by a narrower display edge - it would be a redesign. The heart rate monitor will also be improved. There are now also details about the resolution, which hacker Guilherme Rambo was able to find in the current beta of watchOS 5. The screen resolution of the new Apple Watch is expected to be 384 x 480 pixels. For comparison: the current Series 3 with a 42 mm case "only" manages 312 x 390 pixels.
AirPower and other chargers
AirPower allows you to charge your iPhone, Apple Watch, and the AirPods charging case at the same time. When charging, the user is free to place the device in any position; there is no need to stick to a specific zone. Apple has made this flexibility possible by installing a total of 22 coils. These are placed next to each other like tiles and can therefore be controlled more precisely. AirPower will be available for $149. In this country, the mat will cost between €149 and €169 - according to the latest rumors. Analysts originally expected a price of $200. There will also be an 18-watt USB-C adapter - this will have a quick-charge function. Apple will use this to switch the power supply for iPhones from USB-A to USB-C.
AirPods 2
The AirPods 2 are set to have more features and be more expensive. These include better noise compensation and moisture protection. The wireless range is also set to be increased. It is also possible to integrate biometric sensors. If recent rumors are to be believed, the earbuds will not be available until 2019 - although an introduction this year is also conceivable.
Apple Pay and iOS 12
The long-awaited payment service could be launched with the launch of iOS 12. There have already been leaks from the software's interior. The installation of Apple Pay in Germany appears to be linked to iOS 12. The major update will probably be available to all users a week later. Apple usually releases the new iOS two to three days before the market launch of new iPhone models.
One more thing
Apple is actually famous for surprises - unfortunately, this effect has diminished in recent years. Nevertheless, Apple could deliver something in the form of a new function or actually introduce another product. A split screen on the large iPhone would be a possible candidate for this. Or... or... or: Could Apple possibly introduce VR data glasses?
New iPad Pro models and Macs are not expected until October – Apple could hold a separate keynote for them.
