The first iPod touch was released on September 5, 2007. Now, after around four years, the 7th generation of the popular 4” device has been introduced.
The first hints of a new 7th generation iPod touch were already there during the iOS 12.2 beta phase. However, a presentation of the device has not yet taken place. Apple has now presented the new iOS device in a press release. The iPod touch 7 is powered by an Apple A10 Fusion chip and has the same design as its predecessor. The 4" small iOS device has a physical home button with the biometric recognition technology Touch ID. The new A10 Fusion chip enables users to take part in group Facetime sessions, among other things.
No more iOS 13 support for iPod touch 6?
In addition to the new chip, there is a new storage variant for the first time. The iPod touch 7 can be purchased with 32 GB, 128 GB or 256 GB in the colors pink, silver, space gray, gold, blue or product (RED). The iPod touch 7 is available from 229 euros and, depending on the storage variant, for up to 449 euros. The device can be purchased from Apple immediately. Next week, Apple will be presenting, among other things, iOS 13 With today's release of the seventh generation model, it is likely that the 6th generation iPod touch (2015-2018) will now be discontinued for software updates - the model itself is no longer available for purchase from Apple.
