The fate of the iMac Pro seems to be sealed. Apple has now listed the product in the store as “while supplies last”.
The iMac Pro was introduced in 2017 to offer more powerful all-in-ones for high-end customers who wanted workstation Intel Xeon CPUs. The chassis was identical except for a more efficient cooling system and the space gray aluminum finish. Now that seems to be over. Apple removed all build-to-order configurations for the iMac Pro last night. Currently only the basic product is available for around 5,499.00 euros offered. The offer is "only while stocks last". To this day, it is not clear whether the product sold well. After all, the iMac Pro is in a niche segment of the market that is intended for professionals. The Mac Pro Tower, introduced in 2019, replaced the iMac Pro and attracted all the limelight. So it was only a matter of time before Apple discontinued the Pro version of the iMac.

iMac 2021: The wait is worth it
In addition, Apple is expected to soon introduce a completely new line of iMacs equipped with next-generation Apple Silicon CPUs and GPUs. The performance and efficiency of the M1 successor will likely eliminate the need for Apple to split the iMac product line into different series. This means that a separate Pro version will no longer be necessary. Supply bottlenecks for some 21.5-inch iMacs are also a sign that a new iMac is imminent. According to rumors, an iMac will appear in a brand new design reminiscent of Apple's Pro Display XDR. However, it is not known when the product could be presented. Be that as it may. If you can still wait and don't urgently need a new iMac, you should be patient - the wait will definitely be worth it. (Photo by hadrian / Bigstockphoto)
