It was announced yesterday – now it's official. Apple has started introducing the new Apple Card. A small group of users were also invited via email today.
Apple has officially started rolling out the Apple Card and, as it did yesterday, has invited another select group of interested parties to the new service. Thanks to TechCrunch, it has now become known which criteria Apple is using. Customers who have registered for a notification on the main Apple Card page will be given priority when it is introduced. It is generally expected that all US users will have access to Apple's new payment method by the end of August. Invited customers can apply for an Apple Card directly via the Wallet application.
If the application is accepted, the user can start using the digital card straight away. The physical version of the credit card is then sent by mail. The requirements for receiving an Apple Card are very clear. Interested parties must be at least 18 years old and resident in the USA. In addition, the respective iPhone or iPad must have Touch ID or Face ID and iOS 12.4 - the iPhone 5S is not supported. Two-factor authentication must also be activated.
How to apply for the Apple Card
To apply for the Apple Card, the user must first open the Wallet application. Now the small "+" symbol in the top right must be tapped. Then the Apple Card option is selected. If the data in the Apple ID has been correctly stored, the form is filled out automatically. The next step is a credit check. The user is informed of the result by Goldman Sachs within a few seconds. If the check is positive, the interest rate and credit limit are displayed - the user can now accept the offer. The credit card is then stored in the Wallet app and is ready for use straight away.
Apple provides video series
If the first application is rejected, the respective candidate will be informed of this. They will then have to provide further information about themselves. Depending on creditworthiness, the effective annual interest rate will be between 13.24 and 24.24 percent. The Apple Card itself will be free for all users. Anyone who still needs help applying for and setting up the Apple Card can use Apple's new video series. Cupertino published a multi-part video tutorial on this topic a few hours ago. The Apple Card is currently only available to US customers. It remains unknown when Apple's new credit card will conquer other markets.
