Angela Ahrendts became head of retail at Apple in 2013. Before that, she worked as an executive at British fashion brand Burberry.
Apple announced after the US stock market closed that Angela Ahrendts would be leaving the company after a good five years. Head of human resources Deirdre O'Brien will take over management of the retail and online shops, while O'Brien will keep her current job. The change is due to take place in April this year. During her time at Apple, Ahrendts was able to initiate the redesign of the stores, for example. These should become a place for various events and courses and remind people of old values. The 58-year-old manager has not yet commented on her future plans, but only made a reference to the fashion world to Vogue magazine.
Over 500 stores
Apple now has over 500 stores worldwide, employing more than 70,000 people. Human resources director Deirdre O'Brien has been in Cupertino for over 30 years and has been singled out by Ahrendts as Apple's strongest executive on several occasions. Before O'Brien was appointed head of human resources, she was head of Apple's product demand department.
