Apple has today somewhat surprisingly updated its own vintage list and included the first iPad Mini from 2012.
Apples list The Vintage list includes devices that have not been sold for more than five years but less than seven years, while the Discontinued Products list includes devices that have been discontinued for more than seven years. Devices on the Vintage list may still receive hardware service from Apple and certified service providers, subject to the availability of repair components and as required by law. However, hardware service is no longer available for discontinued products.
An iMac also landed on the vintage list
The first iPad mini, introduced in 2012, sat on shelves until 2015. Since then, third, fourth, and fifth generation iPad mini models have been released, with a sixth generation version with a mini-LED display set to launch in the not-too-distant future. Apple's original iPad mini featured an A5 chip, 512MB of RAM, up to 64GB of storage, and a 1024 x 768 pixel display that wasn't considered Retina. The iPad mini hasn't undergone many design changes since its launch, but perhaps that will change with the sixth generation. Alongside the first generation iPad mini, the 2011 iMac 21.5-inch was also added to the vintage list. (Photo by Denis_Zai / Bigstockphoto)
