Apple announced today that the App Store now offers search suggestions, a new feature designed to make it easier to find new apps or games.
The iOS App Store now has almost two million apps. Apple has now added a new feature announcedto make search results more contextual. Users will see search suggestions when they type a new search term. For example, if users type in "game," they will see specific categories they can add, such as "puzzle," "multiplayer," "kids," "offline," and other options.
App Store search results: Search suggestions initially launch in four countries
When users tap on a category, such as "Puzzle," they can drill down even further with options like "Riddle" or "Word," so that certain types of content can appear even if the searcher doesn't know exactly what they're looking for. Search suggestions were previously available to some users as part of a test, but now the feature is set to expand. Apple says it will now be available to users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia. It remains to be seen when other markets will be included.
