Apple announced the new sales record in the App Store in a press release. There is also a new daily sales record.
According to Apple, around 1.42 billion US dollars were generated in the App Store between Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Of this, 386 million US dollars were spent in the App Store on New Year's Day alone, setting a new record. According to Apple, developers have now earned over 155 billion US dollars since the App Store was launched in 2008. In the announcement, the company also highlighted the service division. Apple concluded a historic 2019 for its services offerings, a year that saw the launch of Apple Arcade, Apple TV+, Apple News+ and Apple Card, and celebrated the continued success of the App Store, Apple Music, iCloud and other experiences that only Apple can create and deliver.
The company then confirmed that the Apple TV app will appear on other TVs from LG, Sony and VIZIO in 2020. However, the Cupertino-based company did not provide any specific details on subscription numbers. At the end of the announcement, Apple made the following promise to its own customers:
