After the annual sales campaign in 2020 was postponed to October due to COVID-19, this time Amazon has brought it forward a bit. Amazon Prime Day originally took place on a single day in July 2015 and was introduced to mark the retailer's 20th anniversary. In 2016 it returned and in 2017 the 24-hour sale was extended to 30 hours. In 2018 the event was extended to 36 hours. Then in 2019 the current two-day format was introduced. This format consists of releasing a series of discounted special offers on over a million deals during the event.
