Amazon today introduced the second generation of its Echo Buds with a smaller design and improved active noise cancellation.
First of all: The second generation of Echo Buds comes in a white color option. On closer inspection, it is not difficult for an Apple fan to compare the case to that of the AirPods Pro - after all, they really do look similar to Apple's version. The case also features an elongated design, with a single centered LED and a long groove for opening the lid. Similar to the AirPods Pro, the Echo Buds now have a ventilated design to reduce pressure in the ear. There are also other comfort improvements made possible by making each bud smaller, such as a shortened in-ear tip and a reduced external height for a more flush fit. Noise cancellation is said to be twice as good as the previous model and the plugs now have a sound passthrough mode in the style of the AirPods Pro. In the press release is it [called:

Amazon Echo Buds 2: Up to five hours of battery life
The new Echo Buds are better in so many ways - smaller design, more comfortable fit, active noise cancellation, a new color and wireless charging option, and powerful drivers for dynamic sound. It's never been easier for customers to take Alexa with them in their day - whether at home, walking around the neighborhood, or commuting, all they have to do is ask it to play music or podcasts, call to check on a loved one, and more.
The sound quality has also been upgraded, with an extended dynamic range and increased fidelity in the lows and highs. According to Amazon, the microphones have also been improved to ensure better voice quality. The second-generation Echo Buds are IPX4 water and sweat resistant and can play music for five hours with noise cancellation activated - even 15 hours with two more full charges in the case. Like its predecessors, the second-generation model also has a built-in Alexa function.

The Echo Buds come with four sizes of oval ear tips and two sizes of optional wing tips for a secure fit. The Echo Buds 2 cost $119.99 with the standard USB-C charging case or $139.99 with the wireless charging case, undercutting the price of the AirPods Pro. According to Amazon, sales will start in the US on May 13th - other markets will follow later. (Image: Amazon)
