Apple introduced the AirPods Max in mid-December. A warranty replacement has now been documented, showing that ear pads will only be replaced when necessary.
With the AirPods Max, Apple wants to conquer the over-ear headphones market. They combine a custom acoustic design, H1 chips and advanced software to enable computational audio for a groundbreaking listening experience with adaptive EQ, active noise cancellation, transparency mode and spatial audio. The headphones also have magnetic ear pads that can be replaced independently. Now the first warranty exchange has been publicly documented. As the US blog 9to5mac reported, a reader revealed the warranty replacement process.
AirPods Max: AppleCare+ is a good option
This had a problem with the AirPods Max Digital Crown, after which Apple replaced the entire pair of headphones - with one exception. The replacement model did not contain any new ear pads. Instead, Apple wants users to take the ear pads from their damaged AirPods Max and use them with the new pair. These would only be replaced if it was necessary. This means that the ear pads would have to have a direct defect in order to be replaced. Those who opt for the 600 euro headphones can also optionally book AppleCare+ for around 59 euros. Given the repair costs, it should certainly make sense. In the event of a repair, the deductible is the usual 29 euros. Without AppleCare+ coverage, a battery replacement costs around 82.96 euros. Those who want new ear pads can purchase them separately in silver, black, green, sky blue and red for 79.00 euros. (Image: Apple)
