Apple released its figures for the past Christmas quarter yesterday evening and posted a new record sales figure. Tim Cook gave an interview and commented on the AirPods Max delivery times, among other things.
Apple achieved a new record with revenue of 111.4 billion US dollars in the first quarter – a first for the technology giant. In an interview with Reuters, Apple CEO Tim Cook spoke about the company's record quarter. During the interviews Cook discussed the wearables business, which includes the Apple Watch and AirPods. While Cook touched on the success of the AirPods Max, Apple's first over-ear headphones in the AirPods line, he also explained that the company is still struggling to meet consumer demand.
AirPods Max: Delivery times become a test of patience
According to Cook, the supply shortages could last until at least April. Reuters reports:
Apple's wearables and accessories segment, which includes the Apple Watch and AirPods product lines, posted revenue of $12.97 billion, compared to analyst estimates of $11.96 billion. In December, Apple launched the AirPods Max, a $550 wireless over-ear headphone, with delivery dates stretching months into the future within hours of the launch. Cook said supply shortages for the AirPods Max could last into the second quarter of the current fiscal year.
The AirPods Max officially went on sale on December 15th. Since their market launch, the headphones have been sold out everywhere. Those interested must expect to wait several weeks. Whether this will actually change in April remains to be seen. (Image: Apple)
