Earlier this week, Apple launched the brand new AirPods Max presentedNow the first unboxing videos are gradually being published. The first opinion: “More than good enough”.
The AirPods Max have an over-ear design and combine all the features that previous AirPods have to offer. The 40 mm dynamic driver designed by Apple ensures "rich, deep bass, precise mid-range and a crisp, clean high-frequency extension" - according to the company. Each ear cup is equipped with the H1 chip for "computational audio" to "provide the best possible listening experience", according to Apple. expressed Nilay Patel of The Verge commented:
As for sound, I had a fun few hours listening to the AirPods Max - they're crisp and bright, with a pleasantly wider soundstage than my Sony headphones, and no distortion whatsoever, even at maximum volume. We'll have a full review of these devices soon, including spatial audio testing and Apple's claim of Atmos surround sound support, so stay tuned. But for now, rest assured that the AirPods Max sound more than good enough to compete with other high-end headphones.
AirPods Max: With the best noise cancellation?
David Carnoy of CNET is the Opinionthat the AirPods Max "raise the bar for noise cancellation," surpassing both Sony's WH-1000XM4 and Bose's Noise Cancelling Headphones 700, two of the most popular over-ear headphone models on the market:
Additionally, their noise cancellation is arguably the best I've ever experienced, easily beating the noise cancellation in both Sony's WH-1000XM4 headphones and the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700. (I haven't exactly compared them to Bose's QuietComfort earbuds, which offer the best noise cancellation for true wireless headphones.) They don't completely silence the world around you, but I was out on the streets of New York and they did a great job of blocking out noise—I could barely hear the traffic around me. Finally, they also work quite well as a headset for making phone calls, and are particularly good at blocking wind noise.
The first general opinion seems to be that the AirPods Max do a good job. More extensive tests are likely to be all the more exciting. The headphones can now be pre-ordered from Apple in this country for 597.25 euros. Delivery will begin on December 15th. (Image: Apple)
