Many audio fans prefer to be able to listen to music through their existing speakers - but these do not support AirPlay 2. That is why many are waiting for an open AirPlay - now the time has come. AirPlay 2 has been cracked.
You have waited a long time for this day - now it has come. The AirPlay 2 streaming protocol has been decrypted. The message was originally published in a group on Slack and then shared on GitHub. Three developers claim to have cracked AirPlay 2. The message states:
Guys... ready? I can finally confirm that Airplay 2 works, including multiroom! Audio streaming data correctly restored, decoded and decrypted!
To clarify: Apple uses a proprietary streaming protocol for AirPlay 2 to enable the technology only on speakers that have been licensed by Apple. But that now seems to be a thing of the past. The three developers claim to have successfully decrypted this protocol. Accordingly, multi-room playback from iOS devices can now take place on any speaker system that is connected to a Raspberry Pi that runs an app for receiving and decoding AirPlay 2 streams. But the developers quickly pointed out that this was only the first step. Now the whole thing has to be packed into an application so that it can actually be used. But this hurdle should not last too long. AirPlay 2 is generally a very useful feature - provided users have the right devices. But not everyone wanted to switch because of the feature, which is why many have been waiting for this day. What was achieved with AirPlay 1 now seems to be expanding to the second generation of AirPlay. In our Amazon Shop you will find the best portable AirPlay 2 speakers of 2019.
