Apple released macOS 10.13.6 for the new MacBook Pro generation this evening.
The update description does not provide any precise information - but you might be able to guess what the update is for. There were recently problems with the processors of the latest MacBook Pro generation - they switched to a kind of heat protection. The reason for this was a drop in performance. Apple has fixed the problem with a separate update.
T2 chip appears to cause crashes
At the end of July we wrote about crashing MacBook Pro models from the 2018 series. A small number of users were confronted with this problem. The T2 chip could have been to blame. Among other things, it is responsible for managing the SSD, encryption and the "Hey Siri" function. It also stores the biometric data from Touch ID. This chip is also installed in the iMac Pro.
Apple may have investigated this issue, but the iMac Pro should have received an update as well, which is not the case. However, since there have been isolated problems with the speakers recently, the update could be the solution to this problem.
