As expected, Apple presented the new operating system iOS 13 for iPhone and iPod touch at WWDC 2019. In addition to the much-awaited Dark Mode, the new iOS generation brings with it many new features. But when will iOS 13 be officially released?
The new iOS 13 is currently in developer beta and will be supplemented by a public beta version in July. The build for public beta testers is usually a little less buggy than the developer preview - but this can still affect the use of an iPhone. Some users dare to use the pre-release version to try out the new features. However, many iPhone owners are reluctant to take the risk and prefer to wait for the final version of the popular operating system. But when will the Golden Master of iOS 13 be released? We will now answer this question using data from the last few years. The official beta phase of the new iOS generation begins every year in June and runs until the beginning of September. Last year, Apple released a total of eight developer betas of iOS 12 before the final Golden Master version was released in mid-September. In 2017, Apple also released a total of eight developer betas before the final version of iOS 11 was rolled out in mid-September. Coincidence? Quite possible. For the past three years, Apple has released the new iOS generation in the second and third weeks of September.
- iOS 12: Monday, September 17, 2018
- iOS 11: Tuesday, September 19, 2017
- iOS 10: Tuesday, September 13, 2016
That would mean that iOS 13 will be released between September 9th and September 17th. There is even a new rumor that predicts the exact release date. According to a report from iPhoneSoft, the Golden Master of iOS 13 will be released on Monday, September 16th - the blog cites an Apple developer source. Whether the statement is true remains unclear, of course, but it would fit Apple's pattern.
Rumors suggest the same outcome
This theory is also supported by another rumor. In mid-June, a note which is supposed to predict the official launch of the new iPhone generation – according to this, the iPhone 11 go on sale on September 20th. The presentation of the new iPhone models would therefore have to take place on September 9th or 10th - as we know, September 11th has not been documented since 2001. Of course, no one can predict 100 percent whether this year's schedule will actually be the same as in recent years - but it can be assumed that nothing will change. The fact is, a release of the iOS 13 GM in the week of September 9th would be historically early for Apple - so it is more likely that we will see the release of the Golden Master of iOS 13 in the third week of September.
In general, new versions of watchOS and tvOS are updated on the same day as iOS. It can be assumed that iPadOS will also be released at the same time as its counterpart iOS 13. Only the new macOS usually follows at a later date. As for the Public Beta of iOS 13 As for the release, Apple says we can expect it sometime in July. There will also be public beta versions of macOS Catalina, iPadOS 13 and tvOS 13 – the beta of watchOS will still be reserved for registered developers only.
