A recent interview with the Epic Games CEO gives a glimpse behind the scenes and reveals the company's ambitions regarding Fortnite.
Business Insider magazine spoke to Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney and found out more about the future goals. The newly introduced creative mode is said to already be played by 100 million users. Epic Games wants to build on the success of this new creative mode and offer players more options - they should use more tools to further build the world around Fortnite, which would enrich the game world. The main goal of this project is to create a virtual and social world. The current development of Fortnite goes beyond a normal game - says Sweeney.
Over 3 billion US dollars in profit
Fortnite was released worldwide on July 25, 2017 - except in China. Fortnite is a co-op survival game developed by People Can Fly and Epic Games. However, the game only gained popularity after the Battle Royale mode was introduced. The standalone mode based on the Battle Royale genre was released on September 26, 2017. The hit game is now available on all platforms. It is available to download for free and offers various in-app purchases - Epic Games was able to make a profit of over 3 billion US dollars in 2018 with this sales model.
