Like every year, a new Apple Watch generation is expected this fall. Cupertino is expected to present the Apple Watch Series 7. Below we have summarized all the rumors so far.
The Apple Watch Series 7 will most likely be unveiled this fall. In addition, Apple could of course also update the SE version introduced last year. But what new features could we expect this time?
Apple Watch Series 7 – The Design
Will the 7th generation of the popular smartwatch look different? It's not impossible. The Apple Watch Series 6 introduced new red and blue aluminum colors and a graphite variant of the classic space gray stainless steel case. The Apple Watch Series 7 could offer the first design change since the switch to a full-screen design with the Series 4. Back in September 2020, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that the design could be fundamentally changed this year. He was referring to the entire case - but did not give any details. Apple's design team currently has an affinity for flat edges, from the iPad Pro to the iPhone 12. There are already concepts that show an Apple Watch that has a design inspired by the iPhone 12. But there are also drawings that show a much flatter smartwatch. Since there are no concrete details so far, there is a lot of imagination left.
Health: Will users be able to measure their blood sugar?
The Apple Watch owes a large part of its success to a number of functions that monitor a person's general well-being. For this reason, it would make sense for new features to be integrated this year as well. While the Series 4 introduced the ECG function, the Series 5 brought the always-on display into play - also for the workout app. The Series 6 was the first to add blood oxygen measurement. But what could Apple introduce this year? Perhaps a blood sugar measurement? Rumors that Apple is working on the feature have been with us for several years. Most recently, it was reported that the feature could now be introduced this year. Interestingly, it is repeatedly claimed that Tim Cook - Apple's CEO - is particularly interested in the feature. Back in 2017, he was seen testing an Apple Watch in combination with a wearable blood sugar tracker on the Apple campus.
Apple Watch Series 7 – Further innovations
Based on the current rumors, the launch this year is at least not out of the question. As part of the update, Apple could of course use a faster processor and improve the battery life. Unlike the iPhone, little is usually known about new Apple Watch models. Therefore, this article - unlike the iPhone 2021 - is much shorter. If that changes in the next few months, we will of course update this article. (Photo by Fiery Snake / Bigstockphoto)
