The next Apple keynote is just around the corner. But what exactly can we expect at the upcoming event? We want to take a closer look at this using rumors, leaks and Apple's habits.
Apple usually holds three to four keynotes a year. There is usually one event in spring, followed by the WWDC (Worldwide Developer Conference) in summer and two more in autumn - the months of September and October. While entry-level devices and accessories can be presented in spring, Apple's WWDC events are reserved for the new operating systems iOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS. The exception was March 2019 - Apple used the keynote to introduce its new services Apple Arcade, Apple TV+, Apple Card and more - devices were presented via press releases. September is considered iPhone month. But what can we expect this September?
iPhone 11 in September
It is already certain that Apple will present the next iPhone series in September. This year we are expecting three iPhone models again - the successors to the 2018 series. Rumors say that two OLED models (XS and XS Max successors) and one LCD model (XR successor) will be released - without any significant design changes in the front area. The back of the new iPhone generation, on the other hand, is matte for the first time and designed to appear more durable in general. This means that it should not splinter as quickly as previous models. The XR successor is also expected to receive two new color variants. The biggest innovation in the iPhone XS and XS Max successors is on the back. Both devices are said to have a triple camera that could enable ultra-wide-angle shots for the first time. The iPhone XR successor is also expected to receive a camera update at the same time. According to reports, Apple has installed a dual camera in the new entry-level iPhone. All three models will probably have a Lightning port again. The A13 chip will be housed inside the iPhones and will generally provide better performance. Since the devices will have a bilateral wireless charging function for the first time, larger batteries are also guaranteed. The feature allows you to charge AirPods and other devices on the back of the iPhone 11 – or you can use the larger battery capacity for something else. What Apple will actually call the devices remains to be seen. Current rumors According to reports, the iPhone XR successor will be known as the iPhone 11 - the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max will be the OLED models. Despite some rumors and leaks, the name should still be viewed with a healthy dose of skepticism.
Apple Watch Series 5
In addition to new iPhone models, a new Apple Watch generation is also expected. So far, there is very little information about the Apple watches. Only recently, two new versions were released in the watchOS 6 Beta found. According to the software leak, Apple is planning to introduce a ceramic and titanium version of the Apple Watch. This could mean that the well-known Apple Watch Edition is returning. What new features the Series 5 could bring is still completely unknown. It is possible that the new generation will include a feature for measuring blood sugar. Numerous patents have already been discovered in the past according to which Apple wants to make its smartwatch suitable for diabetics. In addition to new iPhone and Apple Watch models, Cupertino could surprise with new accessories - a new Apple TV has also been discussed. But there are hardly any rumors worth mentioning about this either. In addition to the hardware, Apple will announce the official launch of iOS 13 and Co. Observers also assume that the company will announce a launch date for its new streaming services Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade. The well-known "One more thing" is not expected.
These products could come in October
In addition to the traditional September keynote to introduce new iPhone and Apple Watch models, Apple often holds another event in October. This is used to present new iPad and Mac devices. If this is the case this year, we can look forward to the following products.
Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR
Apple introduced its new modular Mac Pro and Apple Pro Display XDR at WWDC 2019. Both products are aimed at the professional users among us. During the presentation, Apple stated that both devices will be launched in the fall. If the October keynote actually takes place, Cupertino will probably consider the professional machines on that day. Alternatively, an announcement could also be made in September - even a simple press release cannot be ruled out, as the devices have already been presented.
MacBook Pro and iPad Pro
Apple, of course, has other products in development, including new iPad Pro models, a new entry-level iPad, a 16-inch MacBook Pro, and more. These devices are also expected to be unveiled in October - assuming "Tim Apple" sticks to the usual process. Apple AirPods with wireless charging case on special offer on Amazon (Image: Apple)
