Apple is gearing up to unveil the AirPods Pro 3, a hardware update that will delight tech lovers and music fans alike. While the AirPods Pro 2 already boasted impressive tech, the third generation is reportedly going to be even more powerful.
Apple is known for driving innovations forward gradually but purposefully. Each new model takes a product line to a new level. Similar to the previous versions of the AirPods Pro, the AirPods Pro 3 also feature no shortage of improvements. We'll tell you exactly what to expect below.
The H3 chip: more power, better features
One of the most exciting changes is the brand new H3 chip, which will be the heart of the AirPods Pro 3. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, this chip provides numerous optimizations. Apple has shown what such a chip can do with the AirPods Pro 2 and the H3 appears to be building on that:
- Improved noise cancellation: Thanks to the new chip, active noise cancellation (ANC) is even more effective. This should make a noticeable difference, especially in noisy environments such as public transport or open-plan offices.
- Optimized sound: The H3 not only enables more precise sound processing but also delivers an even richer and clearer sound thanks to new drivers and amplifiers.
- Potential battery life improvement: Apple hasn't officially confirmed anything yet, but longer battery life through more efficient power management is likely.
The H3 should also enable new functions that we may not have even considered yet. The H2 chip already had adaptive transparency and other intelligent features and expectations for the successor are correspondingly high.
New design for more comfort
The design of the AirPods Pro 3 will also change, although not radically. According to Gurman, a "new design" is planned, although concrete details are still missing. Apple will probably stick to the tried and tested look but make minor adjustments:
- Ergonomics in focus: The fit could be optimized so that the AirPods are even more comfortable - whether you use them during sports or in everyday life.
- Slightly adjusted proportions: A possible change in the size of the stem or the case could improve handling and wearing comfort.
Apple will likely focus on fine-tuning here without drastically changing the iconic look of the AirPods Pro.
Noise cancellation at a new level
The AirPods Pro 2 already impressed with their improved active noise cancellation. With the AirPods Pro 3, Apple is reportedly taking things to the next level:
- Finer tuning: The H3 chip makes it possible to eliminate ambient noise even more precisely. This means that you can enjoy peace and quiet even in extremely loud environments such as airplanes or construction sites.
- Smarter transparency: Adaptive transparency was already introduced with the AirPods Pro 2 and could now work even more precisely. This means you can hear important sounds like announcements or sirens while disturbing noises are still blocked out.
Health functions: A wild card for the AirPods Pro 3
An interesting addition could be new health features, although these are not entirely certain. According to Gurman, Apple is working on features such as:
- Heart rate monitoring: Similar to the Apple Watch, the AirPods Pro 3 could monitor your heart rate. This would be particularly exciting for fitness enthusiasts.
- Temperature measurement: This function could help monitor your body temperature in everyday life – a useful feature for health-conscious people.
- Physiological sensors: There are indications of new sensors that could enable even more comprehensive measurements.
Although Apple has already introduced the first health features for the AirPods Pro 2 with iOS 18.1, the AirPods Pro 3 could be the next big step. However, these features often depend on regulatory approvals, which could lead to delays.
AirPods Pro 3: The technology highlight of the year?
The AirPods Pro 3 are well on their way to becoming one of the most exciting technology highlights of the year. With the new H3 chip, a revised design and improved noise cancellation, Apple will once again set standards. Particularly interesting are the potential health features that could open up a whole new area of application for the AirPods. When the AirPods Pro 3 are released in the fall together with the iPhone 17, you will definitely have a product in your hands that combines innovation and comfort to perfection. Whether an upgrade is worthwhile for you depends on your needs - but the new features sound promising. Are you looking for new accessories?
