Nintendo's latest hit - Mario Kart Tour - is finally here. After testing in closed beta, the game is now available worldwide on iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
Mario Kart Tour was designed from the ground up for mobile gaming and has features that no other version has had before. The biggest difference to the console version is the view. In short - portrait mode. Mario Kart Tour can only be played portrait, as is already known from Super Mario Run - the controls are also completely different. While players of the Nintendo Switch version have full control over the kart, users of the mobile version can only steer and shoot, because the kart accelerates on its own - similar to running in Super Mario Run.
"Gold Pass" subscription
The game is available for free, but includes various in-app purchases - these are optional, however. Persistent players can unlock all content without spending real money. In addition to the well-known "rubies" as in-game currency, a "Gold Pass" subscription can also be taken out. This costs 5.49 euros per month and can be tested for free for two weeks. Players with such a subscription get access to gold gifts during a tour season and can earn badges on gold missions. In addition, the 200cc racing class is unlocked immediately.
What are the system requirements for Mario Kart Tour?
To play Mario Kart Tour, you need at least iOS 10 or higher. This means that all iPhone models up to the iPhone 5S are compatible with Nintendo's new title. iPad users must have at least an iPad Air, iPad mini 2, iPad Pro or iPad 5th generation or newer to be able to start the racing experience. By the way, a Nintendo account is also required.
