This year, Germany is celebrating 30 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall. On November 9, 1989, the Iron Curtain fell and united East and West. Now Apple is commemorating this important event on its German website.
Not only Germany remembers the fall of the Berlin Wall – Cupertino is also celebrating the 30th anniversary. Apple has created the German homepage version completely revised. While the homepage usually highlights certain products, today there is a picture of the wall with a passage of text. The well-known song "Die Gedanken sind frei" from the 1856/1865 version is quoted:
“For my thoughts tear down the barriers and walls: thoughts are free.”

Apple CEO Tim Cook also reminded us of Germany's history via Twitter. He wrote in a tweet:
“Thirty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, we must not forget that the power we possess in unity is infinitely stronger than all the differences that divide us.”
Whenever historically significant events occur, Apple usually redesigns its homepage to commemorate them, as was the case on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. (Photo by Esebene / Bigstockphoto)
