If you're interested in Apple and want to stay up to date, it's worth checking out the latest leaks. Well-known prototype collector and leaker Kosutami has published new images of an Apple power cable that is said to be part of a yet-to-be officially announced headset: the Apple Vision Air. The leak provides clues about the design and possible technical changes. Here are all the known details.
Apple is apparently working on a new version of its mixed reality headset. The current model, the Vision Pro, has been available in the US since early 2024. Additional regions have been added over the months. Now there are initial signs of another device, said to be called the Vision Air. According to a leak, it will be lighter, slimmer, and possibly more affordable. Initial images of the power cable that is said to be included with this headset have now surfaced online.
This is what is known about the new Apple power cable
The published images show a newly designed power cable with an anodized aluminum connector in the color midnight. You may recognize this color from other current Apple products – it's a mix of dark blue and black. The Vision Pro is currently only available in silver, so the new color hints at a fresh design concept. There have also been technical improvements – the new connector has 12 pins. This suggests that Apple is working on a new or revised battery system. The connection to the audio cable, however, appears to remain the same – at least the images so far show no differences in this area.
What is the Apple Vision Air?
Kosutami claims that Apple is working on a lighter headset, which will be launched as the Vision Air. It will likely have a slimmer design than the Vision Pro. Some internal structures and the battery casing will be made of titanium to save weight. The outer casing will still be made of aluminum – but in the new Midnight color. The goal of the Vision Air could be to offer a more affordable headset aimed at a wider audience. The Vision Pro costs over €4,000 and is therefore too expensive for many. The Air model could be a cheaper alternative without completely sacrificing high-quality materials or performance. The release of the Vision Air has not been officially confirmed, but it is speculated that Apple will release a second generation of the Vision Pro with an M5 chip between fall 2025 and spring 2026. The Vision Air could be released in parallel as an entry-level model.
How reliable is Kosutami?
Kosutami is active in the Apple leaker scene and has a mixed track record. Some of his predictions have been accurate, others not. Successful leaks include:
- The replacement of the Modern Buckle leather strap by the FineWoven version in 2023
- First pictures of the FineWoven Apple Watch straps before their official launch
- The new Thunderbolt 4 cable that came with the iPhone 15 Pro
- Details on the improved thermal design and battery of the iPhone 16 Pro
That said, not every leak from him hits the mark, but many of his information turned out to be correct in retrospect. Accordingly, many observers are taking the clues about the Vision Air seriously.
Vision Air: Evidence of a new Apple headset is mounting
The new images of the power cable provide the first concrete clues about another headset from Apple. The Vision Air could be a lighter and more affordable alternative to the Vision Pro. The technical revision of the cable—especially the new 12-pin connector—points to major changes to the external battery. The titanium casing, the new Midnight color, and the slimmer design are further features that point to a new product concept. Whether and when the Vision Air will be released is not yet certain, but a period between late 2025 and early 2026 is considered realistic. If you follow Apple products, you should keep the Vision Air on your radar. It could be the headset that makes augmented and virtual reality accessible to more users. Time for some fresh accessories?
