The Apple Vision Pro has just turned one year old and could soon receive its biggest update yet - and all without new hardware. Until now, the headset did not support Apple Intelligence, Apple's new AI technology. This was initially only available for the iPhone, iPad and Mac. But now there are indications that this could change. A new report from Mark Gurman at Bloomberg suggests for the first time that Apple plans to bring Apple Intelligence to the Vision Pro. If this is confirmed, it would be a big surprise for anyone who already owns the €4,000 headset.
Apple announced Apple Intelligence in June last year, but the Vision Pro was not included. Instead, the new AI features were only released for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Now there are first indications that Cupertino wants to bring Apple Intelligence to the Vision Pro. If the rumor is true, Vision Pro users could soon have access to advanced AI features without needing new hardware - which was initially assumed by some.
Apple Intelligence: Is Apple's AI technology coming to the Vision Pro after all?
When Apple unveiled its new AI features, it said that Apple Intelligence would initially be available for the following devices:
- iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16 series
- iPad Pro and iPad Air of the M series
- The latest iPad mini
- All Macs with M-series chips
The Apple Vision Pro was not mentioned in this list. Apple also never confirmed that Apple Intelligence would come to the headset at a later date. However, now there is reportsthat the company intends to make Apple Intelligence available on the Vision Pro as well. If true, this could be an important step in keeping the headset competitive in the long term.
Why would the update be so important?
If Apple Intelligence actually comes to the Vision Pro, it would have several advantages for users:
- Improved Siri features that enable more natural interaction
- Better AI-powered automation to get tasks done faster and more efficiently
- Deeper integration with other Apple devices to make workflows more seamless
- Optimized mixed reality applications that can adapt intelligently
Siri in particular could become significantly more powerful thanks to Apple Intelligence on the Vision Pro. However, there have recently been reports that three planned Siri functions may not be ready in time for iOS 18.4. This could indicate that Apple is working hard to further develop its AI technology - perhaps also for the Vision Pro.
Apple Vision Pro with Apple Intelligence – a look at the advantages
If the update is confirmed, Vision Pro owners would have the advantage of getting an important new feature without having to buy a new device. This means:
- A better, AI-powered user experience, at no additional cost
- A future-proof system that continues to receive software updates
- Better integration into the Apple ecosystem, with smarter interaction options
- Possible improvements in apps and AR applications optimized by AI
Apple has already announced that a new product launch will take place on Wednesday. It remains to be seen whether the company will also officially confirm that Apple Intelligence will be released for the Vision Pro. What is certain, however, is that there will be a lot of news from the Apple universe in the next few days. (Image: Apple)
