With the publication of the third beta of watchOS 6 Apple Watch owners can now delete pre-installed applications at will.
In mid-June, a function was found in the code of the second beta for watchOS 6 that had been eagerly awaited for a long time. Deleting pre-installed applications on the Apple Watch. With the release of the third beta, Apple has now officially activated the feature. Such applications can be removed directly from the Apple Watch and the principle is similar to that of the iPhone. The user must therefore press and hold an app on the home screen until the so-called "wiggle mode" is activated. A small "X" then appears above each app - a tap of the finger makes the respective application disappear.
Further optimizations cannot be ruled out
But be careful – not all pre-installed applications can be deleted just like that. In the current watchOS 6 beta version, apps such as the camera, remote, timer, stopwatch, alarms, breathing, walkie-talkie, cycle tracking, ECG, remote control, now playing and the radio app can be deleted. Of course, deleted applications can be downloaded again via the integrated app store. The option to delete apps allows users to create a little more storage space but also to create a better overview of all existing applications. It cannot be ruled out that Apple will make further optimizations within the new function before the final version of watchOS 6 is released.
