To use the new AirPods, iOS 12.2, watchOS 5.2 and macOS 10.14.4 are required.
Anyone who pre-ordered the AirPods 2 immediately after the announcement can now be happy. Apple has started shipping the orders. The shipping confirmation states that the first buyers can receive their AirPods on Tuesday, March 26th. Since the new generation of earbuds requires the above-mentioned operating systems, the release of iOS 12.2, watchOS 5.2 and macOS 10.14.4 are expected on Monday evening - tvOS 12.2 will probably also be released at the same time. There is a footnote in the description of the AirPods 2. It says the following: “Requires an iCloud account and macOS 10.14.4, iOS 12.2 or watchOS 5.2.”
However, according to some users from various forums, it seems that many orders will not be delivered until March 27th.
AirPods 2 New Features & Prices
According to Apple, the new AirPods should offer 50 percent more talk time - this is made possible by the new H1 chip. In addition, switching devices should now be faster. The new AirPods also have the "Hey Siri" function for the first time, so that the wearer can trigger Siri commands using just their voice - thus eliminating the need for a double tap. The wireless charging case works with all commercially available Qi chargers. The new AirPods are now available with a wireless charging case for 229 euros. The plugs can also be purchased with the first generation charging case for 179 euros. AirPods 1 users can get the wireless charging case separately for 89 euros.
