Apple's next iMac has reached an "advanced stage of development," according to a new report. The new iMac will have the same 24-inch screen size and the same color options as the current model.
In the latest edition of his newsletter “Power On” reported Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said the new iMac is likely to get Apple's upcoming M3 chip, internal design changes, and a new manufacturing process for the chassis. The M3 chip is said to be manufactured on Apple's chipmaking partner TSMC's latest 3nm process to further improve performance and power efficiency.
New iMac could be released in late 2023 at the earliest
Apple last updated the iMac in April 2021 with the M1 chip and an ultra-thin chassis that comes in seven colors, including green, yellow, orange, rose, purple, blue, and silver. It is currently the only iMac in Apple's lineup, as the Intel-based 27-inch iMac and iMac Pro were discontinued over the past two years. Gurman had previously said that a larger iMac could return but he did not reveal any new information about that possibility today. Gurman expects the new iMac to launch in the second half of 2023 at the earliest. (Image: Apple)
