As has now become known, Apple has raised the prices for its subscription services Apple Music and Apple TV+. The Apple One packages are also affected.
The monthly price of Apple Music has increased by one euro for individuals and two euros for families. Apple TV+ is increasing by two euros (which only has one tier and supports family sharing in all plans). Apple One is also becoming more expensive by about 3 euros per month. This is the first time Apple has increased subscription prices for Music, TV+ and Apple One worldwide. Apple justified the increase in Apple Music subscription prices with increased licensing costs. The company explained that artists and songwriters will earn more per stream through the price adjustment. Regarding Apple TV+, the company said the price increase reflects the growing catalog of original TV series and films. To 9to5mac explained an Apple spokesman:
Apple Services: Price increases are taking place worldwide
Subscription prices for Apple Music, Apple TV+ and Apple One are increasing starting today. The change to Apple Music is due to an increase in licensing costs, and in turn, artists and songwriters will earn more for streaming their music. We also continue to add innovative features that make Apple Music the best listening experience in the world. We launched Apple TV+ at a very low price because we only started with a few shows and movies. Three years later, Apple TV+ offers an extensive selection of award-winning and critically acclaimed series, feature films, documentaries, and kids' and family entertainment from the world's most creative storytellers.
This means a price increase of one to two euros per service, with the Apple One packages increasing by around three euros at the same time. Below is an overview:
Apple Music
- Single person: 10.99 euros per month (previously 9.99 euros)
- Family: 16.99 euros per month (previously 14.99 euros)
- Individual annual subscription: 109 euros per year (previously 99 euros)
Apple TV+
- Monthly: 6.99 euros per month (previously 4.99 euros)
- Annually: 69 euros per year (previously 49.99 euros)
Apple One
- Single person: 16.95 euros per month (previously 14.95 euros)
- Family: 22.95 euros per month (previously 19.95 euros)
- Premier: €32.95 per month (previously €29.95)
Existing subscribers will be notified of the planned price increases 30 days before the service renews at the higher price. Apple clearly believes that the prices for its services will remain competitive. Unlike its competitors, Apple's services offer more features as standard. For example, Apple Music offers lossless audio and spatial audio at no extra charge, while Spotify does not offer these features today and will charge additional fees when they launch. There is also no extra charge for better video quality with TV+; 4K HDR is included as standard. Prices for Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness+ and cloud storage remain unchanged. (Image: Apple)
