The launch of the Apple Watch Series 8 is almost upon us. This year we could see a larger screen, a new rugged version, and other exciting features.
Aside from the original Apple Watch, which launched in April 2015, Apple has unveiled every hardware update for its wearable in September. Apple traditionally announces the new Apple Watch models with new iPhones in the fall. An exception was 2020, when the Apple Watch 6 and SE model were unveiled in September while the iPhone 12 was announced in October. Here's a look back:
- Original Apple Watch: unveiled on April 10, 2015
- Apple Watch Series 1 & 2: announced on September 7, 2016
- Apple Watch Series 3: announced on September 12, 2017
- Apple Watch Series 4: announced on September 12, 2018
- Apple Watch Series 5: announced on September 10, 2019
- Apple Watch Series 6 & SE: announced on September 15, 2020
- Apple Watch Series 7: announced on September 14, 2021
Apple Watch Series 8 release date
In the past, Apple has always held its iPhone and Apple Watch events on the first or second Tuesday in September. Since Labor Day in the US falls on September 5th, September 13th is the most likely date for a keynote this year. Of course, we can't completely rule out a delay. The Apple Watch Series 8 will ship with Apple's latest software, watchOS 9, at launch. This brings features such as new and updated watch faces, brand new running data in the Workout app, and improved sleep monitoring. It's possible that we'll also see a more robust Apple Watch model this year that's primarily intended for extreme sports. Would you rather have the Apple Watch Series 7? The smartwatch is currently priced at from 350.00 euros available. (Image: Apple)
