As expected, Apple today expanded its list of vintage products to include eight more MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and iMac models from 2015 and 2016.
In particular, the first MacBook Pro models with the Touch Bar are now classified as vintage products. Apple introduced the Touch Bar in October 2016 as part of a complete overhaul of the MacBook Pro. The company has since removed the Touch Bar from the higher-end MacBook Pro models. However, it is available in the new 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M2 chip. Below is the complete list:
- MacBook 12-inch (early 2016)
- MacBook Air 13-inch (Early 2015)
- MacBook Pro 13 inch (early 2015)
- MacBook Pro 13 inch (2016, two Thunderbolt ports)
- MacBook Pro 13 inch (2016, four Thunderbolt ports)
- MacBook Pro 15 inch (2016)
- iMac 21.5 inch (late 2015)
- iMac 27 inch (Retina 5K, late 2015)
Apple updates vintage list
The 9.7-inch iPad Pro models that were released in 2016 are now vintage as well. Apple's list of "vintage" products includes devices that have not been sold for more than five but less than seven years, while the list of discontinued products includes devices that were discontinued more than seven years ago. Devices on the vintage list can still receive hardware service from Apple and certified service partners, subject to the availability of repair components and as required by law. However, hardware service is no longer available for discontinued products. (Photo by taborov / Bigstockphoto)
