With watchOS 9, Apple is adding a new recalibration feature for the Apple Watch Series 4 and Apple Watch Series 5, according to the watchOS 9 release notes. Recalibration results in a more accurate estimate of maximum battery capacity.
After update On watchOS 9, your Apple Watch Series 4 or Series 5 will be recalibrated and will then estimate its maximum battery capacity more accurately, as has now become known. After the watchOS 9 update, owners of the Apple Watch Series 4 and Series 5 who noticed the incorrect battery life information should be able to better estimate the lifespan of their device.
watchOS 9 to help Apple Watch Series 4 & 5
Apple has already introduced a recalibration feature for the iPhone 11 to more accurately estimate the iPhone's battery life. But there hasn't been a similar feature for the Apple Watch yet. Recalibration is a process that can take several weeks because it requires multiple charging cycles of the Apple Watch. Whether your device is compatible with the new software, you can find out here.
